2015 AGM and Social Event

On Sunday 12th April 2015, a Social Event and the Club AGM were held at Willington Village Hall.

The Social Event was an opportunity for members and non-members to get together for a general discussion on various subjects on the breed and to continue the development of the club as a focal point not only for breeders and people who show their dogs but also people who own one of this fantastic breed as a companion.

In addition to the general conversation there were a number of presentations given.

Chairman - Jim Murdoch - give a talk on the history of the breed right from the 1600's up to today. Jim's in-depth research certainly added more knowledge and breadth to the existing information on the breed. It is hoped that this information will be included in a future issue of 'Coton On'

Julie Macisaac held a discussion on the grooming of a Coton (added by George - the dog) which was well appreciated by attendees who had Coton's as companions and agreed that they learnt several new tips and techniques which they could take home and use.

In addition, Chris Lawson gave a perspective of ring craft both from the viewpoint of someone who had shown over many years but also from that of a judge of several years standing. With comments from those present who were involved in showing, it proved an entertaining and well received talk.

Thanks be given to all those that attended and made the day a success plus Joyce Holley for obtaining a fine selection of food and everyone who helped out in the kitchen.
